Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 August 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Rocket Boost handles information when you use the Rocket Boost mobile application.

Rocket Boost is operated by Jonathan Tran, trading as Rocket Boost Learning ("we", "us", or "our"). Rocket Boost is an educational app for children and is intended to be used by children with a parent, guardian, teacher, or other responsible adult where appropriate.

2. Summary

Rocket Boost is designed to keep user information on the device.

  • We do not ask users to provide email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, or other direct contact details inside the app.
  • We do not provide online chat, messaging, advertising, or social networking features.
  • We do not send profile or progress data to our own servers.
  • The optional Read Aloud feature uses Apple's built-in speech technology on the device. We do not send lesson text to our servers, record audio, or access the microphone.
  • We use Google Firebase Crashlytics for crash and error reporting. Reports are limited to technical diagnostic information and do not include child profile identifiers, navigation breadcrumbs, usernames, answer text, question snapshots, or child-entered content.
  • If someone chooses to report a question issue, the report contains limited question metadata (such as the question identifier, exercise type, category, locale, difficulty, app version, and device model). It does not include a profile ID, answer text, explanation text, prompt text, or the full question content.

3. Information We Handle

The app may store the following information locally on the user's device so that the app can work properly:

  • Generated profile usernames chosen or created inside the app.
  • Internal profile identifiers.
  • Profile creation and last active dates.
  • Learning progress, lesson completion, practice history, and in-app results.
  • App settings and preferences, such as language selection, sound settings, haptic preferences, accessibility-related settings, onboarding status, and exercise preferences.

This information is used only to operate app features for the person using the device.

Read Aloud

The optional Read Aloud feature turns lesson text already contained in the App into speech using Apple's system speech-synthesis technology. The App does not send that text to our servers, record a user's voice, access the microphone, or create an audio profile. Voice availability and any voice downloads are managed by the device and Apple; Apple’s handling is governed by its own policies and device settings.

Technical Information Processed by External Services

We use Google Firebase services to protect the optional question-reporting feature and to diagnose app crashes and errors. Depending on the service and feature used, this may involve technical information such as:

  • device model, operating-system version, app version and build number;
  • stack traces and relevant app state when a crash or non-fatal error occurs;
  • a Firebase user-agent containing device, operating-system, app-bundle, and developer-platform information;
  • limited aggregate SDK or service-health metadata processed by Firebase supporting libraries, such as transport-health metadata;
  • App Check attestation or assertion data from Apple's App Attest service when the App obtains a token to protect a question report; and
  • function-invocation metadata, including the caller's IP address, when a question report is sent.

We do not use this information for advertising, behavioural profiling, or to identify a child's local profile.

4. Children's Privacy

Rocket Boost is aimed at children aged approximately 7 to 11.

We do not ask children to provide direct contact details or create an online account in the App. Rocket Boost does not send local user-profile or learning-progress data to our servers. However, technical crash and error diagnostics may be sent to Firebase Crashlytics (a service operated by Google) to help us improve app stability. If someone voluntarily reports a question issue, the App sends only limited question metadata so that the issue can be identified. These reports do not include child profile identifiers, profile usernames, learning progress, answer text, question text, or other child-entered content. The technical processing described in section 3 may still occur when these optional services are used.

If a parent or guardian believes the app contains information on a device that they would like removed, they can:

  • delete the relevant profile within the app, if available; or
  • delete the app from the device to remove locally stored app data, subject to the device's own backup and restore settings.

5. How We Use Information

We use locally stored information only to:

  • create and manage local user profiles;
  • save learning progress and results;
  • remember preferences and accessibility choices;
  • support core app functionality and improve the user experience on the device; and
  • provide optional on-device Read Aloud playback.

6. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, rent, or share user profile or progress data with third parties for advertising or marketing.

Because the app is designed to keep this information on the device, we do not disclose it to our own servers in the ordinary use of the app.

Question Issue Reports

When a person chooses the in-app question-reporting feature, Rocket Boost sends the question identifier, exercise type, selected report category, locale, difficulty, app version, and device model to our Firebase service. The report is protected by Firebase App Check and is deduplicated using non-personal question metadata. The app does not send or store a child profile ID, answer text, explanation text, prompt text, or a full question snapshot as part of this report. The report's creation time is recorded by the service so that we can review and resolve the issue.

Firebase's Cloud Functions service also processes request-delivery metadata, including the caller's IP address. Firebase App Check processes the technical attestation data described in section 3 to help us prevent automated or replayed reports. These controls are used to protect the reporting service, not to identify a child or track activity across apps.

Crash and Error Diagnostics

Rocket Boost uses Google Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and non-fatal error diagnostics. These reports may include:

  • Device model, operating system version, and available storage;
  • App version and build number;
  • Stack traces and error category/code information;
  • Other technical information needed to diagnose crashes and non-fatal errors.

Reports do not include:

  • Usernames or profile names created in the app;
  • Answer text, responses, or child-entered free-form content;
  • Question text, exercise content, or lesson materials;
  • Full file paths, network response bodies, or raw underlying error descriptions.

Firebase Analytics and advertising SDKs or features are not included or used. Firebase supporting services may nevertheless process limited aggregate technical service-health telemetry, such as Firebase user-agent and SDK transport metadata, to operate and monitor service delivery. This is not used for tracking or advertising and is not linked to a child's local profile.

Google Firebase

Firebase provides Crashlytics, App Check, and the Cloud Function used for question reports. Google processes the information described above on our behalf to provide those services. Its handling of information is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy and the applicable Firebase terms.

Apple Services

Please note that Apple may process certain information separately when users download the app, purchase the app, restore purchases, or use the App Store. That processing is governed by Apple's own terms and privacy documentation, not this Privacy Policy.

7. Storage and Retention

Rocket Boost stores app data locally on the user's device. Data remains there until it is deleted within the app, removed by deleting the app, or removed through the device settings.

Depending on a user's Apple device settings, app data may also be included in device backups or device-to-device transfers managed by Apple. We do not control Apple's backup services.

Question issue reports are retained in Firebase only for as long as reasonably necessary to investigate and resolve the reported issue, subject to our operational retention settings. Crash and error diagnostics are retained according to the retention settings available in Firebase Crashlytics. We may delete reports or diagnostics sooner where appropriate.

8. Security

We aim to limit data handling to what is needed for the app to function and to keep that information local to the device where possible. Question reports are protected with HTTPS and Firebase App Check. However, no device, software environment, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Parents and guardians should help children keep their devices secure, including by using device passwords and controlling access to the device.

9. International Use

Rocket Boost may be made available through the iOS App Store in multiple countries. Even where the app is available globally, the app itself is designed so that profile and progress data remain on the user's device rather than being uploaded to us during normal use.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and may provide additional notice inside the app or on the page where this Privacy Policy is published.
